Written by the authors of other notable macroeconomics books (A Modern Guide to Macroeconomics: An Introduction to Competing Schools of Thought, CH, Feb'95; A Macroeconomics Reader, 1997), this book provides a great deal of information on both historical and current issues in macroeconomics. Arranged alphabetically, it offers over 100 main entries and 300 brief entries. The brief entries, written by the editors, include definitions of important terms and main ideas in macroeconomic literature, biographies of economists, and cross-references to main entries. Biographical details were drawn from Who's Who in Economics (3rd ed., CH, May'00). Biographies cite best-known books and most widely read articles. Main entries, written by specialists, supply lengthier discussions on selected topics and on individuals associated with the development and current state of macroeconomics. Main entries are very detailed, include effective graphs and tables that illustrate concepts, and end with bibliographies. A roster lists authors of main entries and their topics. Although this excellent encyclopedia is focused toward intermediate undergraduates, postgraduates, and lecturers in macroeconomics, it is easy for any reader to use. Summing Up: Highly recommended.
